As the secretary of the Harker Medical Club in the 2017-18 school year, I organized multiple speaker events to showcase aspects of different medical fields to our members

Dr. Jon Keller is a pathologist who works at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation as the director of clinical laboratory services. In March, he gave an overview of pathology and provided deep insight into the different specialties and roles within the field.

Dr. Shahriar Heidary is a noninvasive cardiologist who has his own private practice called South Bay Cardiovascular and is affiliated with numerous hospitals in the Bay Area. In February, he gave an overview of heart health with a special focus on preventing heart disease with Life’s Simple 7 as it was Heart Health Month.

Dr. Tarun Grover is a vascular surgeon at the Medanta Hospital in India. In January, he gave an overview of vascular surgery to the Harker Medical Club and provided insight into the process of becoming a medical professional.

Dr. Eric Fung is a medical researcher at Grail in Menlo Park who is trying to develop new diagnostic tests for cancer. In November, he gave an overview of modern cancer diagnostics to the Harker Medical Club.

Dr. Jefferson Bastidas is a general surgeon, specializing in oncology, who has his own private practice called National Surgical Associates and is affiliated with numerous hospitals in the Bay Area. In October, he gave an overview of cancer to the Harker Medical Club with a special focus on breast cancer as it was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
