As the president of the Harker Medical Club in the 2018-19 school year, I organized multiple speaker events to showcase aspects of different medical fields to our members.

Dr. Staudenmayer is a trauma surgeon and assistant professor at Stanford. In April, she talked about a day in her shoes and gave us an overview of trauma surgery.

Dr. O’Malley is a pediatric neurologist and an assistant professor at Stanford. In March, she gave an overview of her pathway and talked about her work with deep brain stimulation.

Dr. Alvarez is an emergency medicine physician and an assistant professor at Stanford while Dr. Mitarai is an emergency medicine physician at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. In February, they spoke on CPR before giving a practical lesson because it was Heart Health Month.

Dr. Bollyky is an immunologist and infectious diseases specialist as well as an assistant professor at Stanford. In January, he spoke on wound healing and various biomaterials.

Dr. Kilaru is a plastic surgeon and chief of surgery at Washington Hospital in Fremont. In November, he gave an overview of plastic surgery with a focus on various different patient cases.
